Our Wilderness Out-trips take campers into some of the most amazing and beautiful places in Alberta.  Our trips are ably led by qualified and credentialed staff who place a strong emphasis on safety in all activities.

Valaqua provides group equipment (tents, stoves, canoes), specific gear needs will be relayed by our Out-trip Director in June.


Jr Canoe  – July 15-20

An introduction to canoe tripping for campers with little or no paddling experience. Jr Canoe campers spend Sunday night at Valaqua getting organized and ready and then head out Monday morning.  The trip follows the Red Deer River from Red Deer to Drumheller through the amazing badlands.  Campers camp each night beside the river.

Sr Canoe – August 12-17

Experience more intense moving water paddling and take your skills to the next level.  The Sr Canoe trip features more advanced moving water and challenging paddling along the North Saskatchewan River from Nordegg to Rocky Mountain House.  Previous canoe experience is recommended.

Jr Backpack – August 6-10

This introductory backpacking trip will take you to some of the most beautiful places on in our amazing province.  Campers will carry everything they need on their backs as they travel from campsite to campsite.


Sr Backpack – July 8-13              

With more challenging days and terrain, The Sr Backpack trip will help more experienced backpackers develop new skills and challenge themselves

Adventure Training Camp (ATC) – July 22-27

A trip aimed at skill and leadership development in the backcountry. Participants will canoe, backpack and gain skill certifications in these disciplines.
